In a tragic incident, a taekwondo player named Kalpana Kumari was found hanging in her room at the Eklavya Girls Hostel in Hotwar, within the jurisdiction of Khelgaon police station in Ranchi. Kalpana, who had been training at the Khelgaon Stadium, commited suicide on Tuesday night. Reportedly, she was suffering from depression.
Kalpana's family, informed by JSSPS (Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society), expressed their outrage over her sudden demise. Family members claim that Kalpana was not showing signs of distress and seemed perfectly fine during recent interactions.
Deceased family is now demanding a thorough and high-level investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death, questioning the management practices at JSSPS. Kalpana had been undergoing training at JSSPS since 2017. The local police, along with the FSL team, are investigating the matter.
