Tamil Nadu couple’s 4-month-old baby found dead in Kerala well, Police question parents

A four-month-old baby girl belonging to a Tamil Nadu couple was found dead in a well at their rented quarters in Kannur, Kerala, on Monday night. The couple, who had migrated to Kerala for work, is currently in police custody as authorities investigate the circumstances of the infant’s tragic death.

According to a complaint filed with the Valapattanam police, the parents had gone to sleep in the hall of their quarters around 9:30 pm. At approximately 11 pm, the baby’s mother woke up to find the child missing and immediately alerted her husband. Hearing the mother’s distressed cries, fellow migrant workers in the area rushed to the couple’s aid and began searching for the missing infant.

The child’s body was later discovered inside a well on the premises, raising serious concerns about how the baby ended up there. The Kannur police have registered an FIR under Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Section 194(1), which pertains to investigating suspicious deaths. Authorities are now interrogating the parents to gather more details about the incident.

The infant’s remains have been shifted to the Kannur District Hospital for an autopsy, which is expected to reveal further details about the cause of death. Police officials are also questioning other residents of the quarters to determine if anyone witnessed any unusual activity before the baby went missing.

Local authorities are exploring multiple angles, including the possibility of an accident, negligence, or foul play. While no formal accusations have been made yet, the police have stated that they will leave no stone unturned in ensuring justice for the deceased infant. Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a four-year-old boy in Hyderabad lost his life in a tragic accident inside an apartment building after getting trapped in a lift. The child was reportedly playing near the lift area when the accident occurred, further highlighting concerns about child safety in residential complexes.
