Tape on EVM in Falta! Visuals surface claiming BJP candidate's name & button covered | Watch

BJP has alleged that voters were prevented from selecting its symbol at several polling booths in Falta assembly constituency under Diamond Harbour during the second and final phase of the west bengal assembly elections. The claim was shared publicly by Bjp national IT cell head Amit Malviya on social media platform X, along with videos purportedly showing tape placed over the party’s voting option on electronic voting machines.

According to Malviya, the alleged incidents occurred at multiple booths, including Falta 144, part 170, room no. 2 at Harindanga high school, and booth 189, among others. He claimed that the alleged action effectively restricted voters from exercising their choice and called it a deliberate attempt to influence the polling process. The Bjp leader also linked the allegation to broader political control in the region and demanded immediate intervention.

The Bjp has further demanded repolling in all booths where such irregularities have been reported. Debangshu Panda is contesting from Falta on a Bjp ticket and is facing TMC candidate Jehangir Khan. The allegations have added to the political tension in Diamond Harbour, a constituency considered a stronghold of the ruling Trinamool Congress, as both parties continue to trade charges during the ongoing electoral exercise.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened across Diamond Harbour with central forces deployed in large numbers to ensure smooth polling. The CRPF director general recently visited the area and held a review meeting with the police observer to assess law and order. Voting is underway across 142 constituencies in the final phase, with over 3 crore electors eligible to cast their votes, while authorities continue monitoring reports of disturbances and ensuring electoral compliance.
