In a shocking development from Hooghly’s Tarakeswar, the district police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl. Hooghly Rural Superintendent of Police Kamnashis Sen confirmed that a five-member SIT has been set up to ensure a swift and thorough investigation into the incident.
The case took a disturbing turn after police arrested the girl’s grandfather, who had initially filed the complaint, identifying him as the main accused. Due to the POCSO court being closed today, the accused was produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court, which remanded him to one day’s judicial custody. He will be produced before the POCSO court tomorrow, where police will seek seven days’ custody.
The crime scene has been cordoned off, and an e-forensic team collected several samples from the area. SP Kamnashis Sen said that the investigation will be conducted swiftly, similar to the Gudup case, and all necessary health examinations are being carried out under medical supervision.
