A joint task force conducted raids at BD Market and ABAC Market in Salt Lake today to monitor the rising prices of vegetables and daily essential commodities. The team included members from the Task Force, Enforcement Branch, Agricultural Marketing Department, Fisheries Department, and Bidhannagar Police. Each shopkeeper was questioned about vegetable rates, with prices of eggplant, ridge gourd, and beans found to be notably high at several shops.
This action was carried out under the directive of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to check artificial inflation of demand and prices. The administration stated that such enforcement drives would continue regularly to keep price rises in check. The raids aimed to identify and curb unfair pricing practices in the market.
Officials emphasized that efforts are ongoing to ensure price stability for consumers. The task force will maintain surveillance and carry out further operations as needed to prevent unwarranted price increases in essential goods. The government called for cooperation from traders to maintain fair market conditions.
