Reconstruction of crime scene in Kasba as probe intensifies in Kolkata college student rape case
A technician was killed in a gas tank explosion at an ice cream factory in Line Bazar under Mirganj police station area of Bihar’s Gopalganj district on Saturday. The explosion caused panic in the locality as the sound of the blast was heard up to two kilometres away.
The deceased was identified as Arun Pal, a resident of West Bengal. He was staying on rent in Ward No. 6 of Mirganj and worked as a technician. On Saturday, he was called to the factory to repair a technical fault in the gas tank. While he was refilling the gas tank, it exploded suddenly with a loud noise.
At the time of the incident, several workers were present inside the factory. All other workers escaped without injury, but Arun Pal died on the spot. Eyewitnesses stated that the explosion was so powerful that the technician’s body was severely damaged.
After receiving information, police from Mirganj police station arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Police have initiated an investigation and are questioning the factory owner. Officials are looking into whether safety measures were in place at the time of the incident.
Local residents said this was not the first time concerns had been raised over the factory’s safety protocols. However, no action had reportedly been taken earlier. The administration has informed the family of the deceased, but there has been no official statement yet regarding compensation.
