Roopa Ganguly arrested during protest of student's death in Bansdroni, gets bail
A 15-year-old boy from Bihar’s Saran district tragically died after an alleged botched gall bladder stone removal surgery performed by a fake doctor. The doctor, Ajit Kumar Puri, reportedly relied on YouTube videos to guide the procedure and is now on the run.
The teenager was admitted to Puri's clinic in Madhaura on Friday night, suffering from vomiting and stomach pain. Without the family's knowledge or consent, Puri began operating on the boy while watching YouTube videos on his phone. When the boy’s condition worsened during the surgery, the family protested, only for Puri to respond, "Am I the doctor here or you?"
As the situation spiraled, Puri decided to transfer the boy to a hospital in Patna. Sadly, the boy died en route, and Puri fled, leaving the body behind. The boy's family has filed a complaint accusing Puri of negligence and malpractice, and a police case has been registered.
The authorities are conducting raids to arrest the fake doctor and his clinic staff. The boy's body has been sent for postmortem.
