A 14-year-old boy, Dheeraj Kumar, was found murdered in Siraniya village, Darbhanga, after attending a wedding procession on the night of the incident. His body was discovered in a field near the railway line, raising suspicions of foul play. Dheeraj, a resident of Puranahi village in Samastipur district, was part of a wedding procession that arrived in Siraniya village to attend the wedding of Ramdhani Sahni's daughter, Manisha.
The wedding procession, which arrived around 2 a.m., included several guests who had a meal together at around 4 a.m. Dheeraj was last seen eating during the gathering, but after the meal, he went missing. His sudden disappearance led the family and others in the wedding procession to search for him throughout the village. His body was found hours later in a field near a railway crossing, around a distance from the wedding venue.
Dheeraj’s father, Hiya Chaudhary, has accused two local men, Lakshan Sahni and his son, of being responsible for the murder. He claimed that the accused had previously threatened his son with death. In a statement, Hiya said he received a phone call informing him about the situation and rushed to the location, where he discovered his son's lifeless body. “Lakshan Sahni and his son had threatened my son before, and now they have killed him,” he said.
The police, led by City SP Ashok Kumar, have taken the case seriously and are treating it as a murder. Authorities have confirmed that the body was sent for post-mortem to determine the cause of death. Police have started a full investigation, examining all angles, including the accusations made by Dheeraj’s father. The investigation includes questioning local residents and wedding procession attendees, with a focus on identifying the perpetrators.
The police are working to arrest the accused and ensure justice for the teenager. With the investigation still in progress, the community remains in shock, grappling with the brutal loss of a young life during a celebratory event.
