Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav on Tuesday, announced the formation of a new political coalition of five minor parties to contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The announcement was made at a press conference in Patna, attended by the national presidents of all five parties. This development comes months after Tej Pratap was expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by his father and party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
The five parties forming the coalition are Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party (VVIP), Bhojpuriya Jan Morcha (BJM), Pragatisheel Janta Party (PJP), Wajib Adhikar Party (WAP), and Sanyukt Kisan Vikas Party (SKVP). Tej Pratap stated that national presidents, general secretaries, and other associates of these parties have expressed support for the coalition and are backing Team Tej Pratap Yadav.
Tej Pratap said the coalition’s objective is to ensure social justice, social rights, and complete transformation in Bihar. He said, “If the public gives us the mandate to win, we pledge to work towards the development of Bihar. We will also work to fulfil the dreams of Lohia, Karpoori, and Jai Prakash Narayan ji.” He confirmed that he would contest the Assembly election as an independent candidate from Mahua in Vaishali district, where he previously served as MLA.
On May 25, Lalu Prasad expelled Tej Pratap from the RJD, citing “irresponsible” actions and behavior not in line with public conduct. Sources in the party stated that the decision followed a Facebook post by Tej Pratap sharing photos of his remarriage with a woman named Anushka Yadav. The post was later deleted, with Tej Pratap claiming his account had been hacked. He had previously married Aishwarya Rai in May 2018 and filed for divorce five months later.
Responding to a question about VIP chief Mukesh Sahani, Tej Pratap called him an impostor and claimed the original party was VVIP. He added that many other parties may join him in the coming days. He extended an invitation to RJD and Congress to join his team, stating they were welcome to form an alliance. He also said that the name “Team Tej Pratap Yadav” is not yet registered as an official party.
