In a light-hearted moment during a joint press conference in Bihar's Araria, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD's Tejashwi Yadav shared a humorous exchange about marriage, even as they affirmed the unity of the INDIA bloc ahead of the state assembly polls.
The banter began when Tejashwi Yadav advised LJP leader Chirag Paswan to "get married now." To this, Rahul Gandhi quickly responded, "This applies to me as well." Tejashwi then quipped that his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, had been giving him the same advice for a long time.
Beyond the jovial exchange, the two leaders addressed more serious political matters. Rahul Gandhi asserted that the INDIA bloc is fully united and will soon release a common manifesto for the upcoming elections. He also launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission, alleging that the ongoing revision of electoral rolls is an "institutionalised attempt" to help the BJP by "stealing votes."
The press conference was part of the ongoing 16-day 'Voter Adhikar Yatra,' a 1,300-km march that began on August 17. The yatra, which will cover more than 20 districts and conclude in Patna on September 1, saw both leaders riding a bullet bike earlier in the day, drawing large crowds.
