RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav narrowly escaped injury when a speeding truck rammed into his convoy in Bihar’s Vaishali district around 12:30 am on Saturday. The incident occurred near a toll plaza under Goraul police station limits on the Patna-Muzaffarpur National Highway, when Yadav’s convoy had halted for a tea break while returning from Madhepura to Patna.
According to police officials, the truck lost control and hit multiple vehicles in the convoy, injuring three security personnel. Two of the injured were part of Tejashwi’s security detail, while one was a member of the district police. The accident happened just a few feet from where Yadav was standing. He was not injured in the crash.
Yadav later visited Hajipur District Hospital to meet the injured personnel. Two of them were referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for further treatment, while the third was being treated locally. Doctors stated that all three are currently out of danger.
Security forces responded quickly after the crash. The truck was intercepted at a nearby toll plaza and the driver was taken into custody. The vehicle involved in the collision was also seized by police. An investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances that led to the accident.
Speaking after the incident, Tejashwi Yadav said, “We were returning from a program in Madhepura and had stopped to have tea. While we were stopped, a truck lost balance and crashed into 2-3 vehicles right in front of me. Around 2–3 people were injured. The accident happened just five feet away from me.” He called for strict action, stating, “The administration stopped the truck at the toll ahead and caught it. Strict action should be taken against those whose negligence led to this incident.”
