Telangana BJP MP Soyam Bapu Rao confesses to using MP LADS funds for personal purposes, including building a house and his son's wedding
BJP leaders taken aback as Soyam Bapu Rao reveals diversion of funds during a meeting in Adilabad
Soyam Bapu Rao claims many MPs have used MP LADS funds for personal reasons, asserts his decision to allocate funds for MPTC and councillors instead of personal use
Telangana BJP MP from Adilabad, Soyam Bapu Rao, has admitted that he used MP Local Area Development Scheme (LADS) funds for his personal reasons instead of using them for the development of his constituency.
The funds are given to Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha MPs to recommend developmental work in their constituencies.
He made these comments in a meeting with BJP representatives in Adilabad recently. BJP leaders were taken aback when the MP revealed that he had used the funds for his own purposes in the meeting.
“Rs 2.5 million came the second time. We have given some funding to the MPTC and councilors in this area. Since I don't have a house nearby, I used part of the funds for building a house and part for my son's wedding. It is true. Although I only used a portion. Many MPs in the past have used the overall funds for their own reasons, you have to admit that. Today, some leaders of our party are criticizing in many ways, but they don't realize how much they used earlier," he said.
He further said, “Today no MP in India can get Rs 5 crore. Bandi Sanjay can't get it. Arvind can't get it. But you all know what I did for you. Just yesterday I got a call from Delhi. My PA called and said the money is coming to your account sir. We have decided to give Rs 5 million for MPTC and councillors. I could still use the funds for my personal reasons, but we decided against it."
