Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
A protest broke out at the North Dumdum Municipality after temporary municipal workers demonstrated over delayed salary payments and wage-related grievances. According to reports, the protesting workers locked the municipal gate and demanded that chairman Bidhan Biswas come to the spot. Police personnel later arrived in the area along with central forces amid the agitation.
The protesting workers alleged that they had not received regular salary payments for a prolonged period and claimed that wages had not been increased in the last five years. One worker stated that employees were often paid unpredictably, alleging that salaries were credited on different dates ranging from the 1st to the 30th of every month without any fixed schedule.
Speaking about pending dues, a protesting worker alleged that two months’ salary remained unpaid and claimed that only half of the pending amount had been credited to employees’ accounts. The worker stated that 51 days had already passed without full payment and accused the authorities of handling salary disbursement arbitrarily.
The workers also alleged that they had not received any proper response from chairman Bidhan Biswas regarding their demands. Protesters remained stationed at the municipality premises and continued demanding direct intervention from the municipal chairman over salary delays and wage-related issues.
