NIA searches Saokat Molla’s home and party office, son questioned in Bhangar blast case
Panic gripped parts of Bhatpara as bike-borne miscreants opened fire in the Nimtala–Nimbagan area of Ward No. 6 under the Bhatpara Municipality at the start of the year. According to preliminary information, four rounds were fired before the attackers fled the scene, triggering fear among local residents.
Police sources said locals alerted the police immediately after hearing gunshots in the area. Teams from Bhatpara police station rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Initial inputs suggest the firing may be linked to a local turf war over area control, though the exact motive and identity of the shooters are yet to be established.
Ward No. 6 councillor Mili Dutta, who reached the spot, said the incident was not political in nature and described it as an act of mischief. She confirmed that four rounds were fired, as reported by residents, and said the administration is conducting a thorough probe and assured strict action against those responsible.
