Terrorists open fire at tourists in Pahalgam, 1 killed, multiple injured

A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday in the scenic Baisran area of Pahalgam, located in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, as terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists. According to initial reports, at least one person lost their life and several others sustained injuries in the brazen attack. Among the injured are six tourists and several locals, with two people reported to be in critical condition. 

Terrorist group TRF, which is affiliated to Lashkar has taken responsibility of this heinious crime. As per reports, the terrorists asked for the religion of the tourists. Following which, the tourists were shot, The attack occurred during daylight hours, causing panic among visitors and local residents. A female tourist, whose husband was shot in the head, managed to contact the Kashmir Police’s Police Control Room (PCR) and report the harrowing incident. Her call helped alert authorities and prompt a swift security response. 

This attack comes months ahead of the holy Amarnath Yatra. Security forces immediately reached the spot and launched a coordinated cordon-and-search operation to trace the perpetrators. The area has been sealed, and additional reinforcements have been deployed to prevent further violence and ensure civilian safety. The entire region remains on high alert.

Eyewitnesses reported chaos as gunshots rang out in the popular tourist destination. Many visitors ran for cover, while some locals tried to help the injured. Ambulances were rushed to the scene, and those injured were taken to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

Officials have condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly act targeting innocent civilians and tourists. They reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and swiftly bringing the culprits to justice.
