Court sends Councilor Mahesh Sharma to 6-day police custody in extortion case
In a profession often synonymous with balance sheets and audits, a silent revolution is unfolding — and it’s being led by India’s Chartered Accountants.
With over 4 lakh Chartered Accountants in India, only about 1.6 lakh are actively engaged in traditional tax and audit practices. The rest — a staggering 2.4 lakh professionals — are rewriting what it means to be a CA in the 21st century. They are building startups, leading corporations, shaping fiscal policy, innovating in technology, and driving social enterprises.
Recognizing this transformation, the Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of ICAI is all set to host its 50th Regional Conference (Golden Jubilee Edition) on 21st and 22nd November 2025 at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata.
Titled “EYE: Empower | Youth | Ethics,” the conference celebrates fifty years of professional excellence while looking ahead to a new era defined by vision, leadership, and responsibility.
The two-day conference will bring together over 5,000 Chartered Accountants, business thinkers, and industry visionaries from across India’s eastern region and beyond. The event promises not only 12 hours of CPE learning credit but also unparalleled opportunities for networking, collaboration, and professional growth.
Among the eminent personalities gracing the occasion are:
Shri H. M. Bangur, Chairman, Shree Cement Ltd. – Guest of Honour
Swami Baba Ramdev – Spiritual and business visionary
CA Suresh Prabhu, Former Union Minister and Chartered Accountant
Shri Karan Adani, CEO, Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd.
Along with several distinguished industry leaders, policymakers, and experts from finance, governance, and innovation.
The Golden Jubilee edition isn’t just a milestone — it’s a statement. It marks five decades of EIRC’s commitment to upholding professional ethics, nurturing young leaders, and empowering members through continuous learning.
“This conference is not only a celebration of legacy,” says CA Vishnu K. Tulsyan, Chairman, EIRC, “but a call to action for every Chartered Accountant to recognize their expanding role in building India’s financial and ethical future.”
Delegates and professionals from 11 states of Eastern India will participate in this landmark event, each contributing to the region’s diverse professional culture. From the industrial corridors of Jharkhand and Odisha to the entrepreneurial hubs of Bihar and West Bengal, this conference represents the unity and diversity of India’s eastern economic landscape.
Sessions will cover a wide range of topics — from emerging financial technologies and startup ecosystems to corporate governance, sustainability, and youth leadership. The event aims to create a dialogue where experience meets innovation and tradition blends with transformation.
In addition to powerful speaker sessions, the conference offers a platform for networking, collaboration, and mentorship — connecting seasoned professionals with new-age leaders and entrepreneurs. The organizers emphasize that the event’s strength lies not only in the sessions but also in the conversations that happen beyond them — over coffee, in panel discussions, and in the spirit of community.
For Chartered Accountants, finance professionals, and students, the 50th Regional Conference is a rare opportunity to engage with some of the most respected minds in India’s business and financial ecosystem.
As the CA profession continues to evolve, this event serves as both a reflection on the past and a roadmap for the future — a place where ethics meet innovation and youth meets leadership.
