A burglary took place in South Dum Dum’s Bedia Para, Ward No. 11, where thieves broke into an unoccupied house at night. They used an iron rod to force open the main door and looted valuables. Inside, every cupboard was broken into, and approximately ₹20,000 in cash, along with other items, was stolen. The house owner, who had been staying with relatives for the past month, was informed by neighbors on Monday morning that her house’s lock was broken. Upon returning, she found the house completely ransacked.
The homeowner lodged a complaint at Nagarbazar Police Station, and an investigation has been initiated. Officers are examining CCTV footage from the area and questioning locals to gather leads. Preliminary findings suggest the burglars had prior knowledge of the house being unoccupied. The police have urged residents to stay alert and report suspicious activity. A senior officer stated that steps are being taken to strengthen security and prevent such incidents.
