This is what Sanjay Roy said after being declared Guilty | read

Sanjay Roy, the accused in the RG Kar rape and murder case, vehemently denied his involvement during the proceedings in Sealdah Court today. He stated, “If I had committed the crime, the Rudraksha mala around my neck would have broken.” Roy, who has been charged with the brutal assault, rape, and murder of a young doctor, insisted that he was being framed, claiming that the real perpetrators remained unidentified. His remarks came as the court prepared to deliver its verdict in the high-profile case.

The hearing, presided over by Judge Anirban Das, saw Roy being declared guilty of all charges. “You committed assault, rape, and murder. Your crime is proven,” the judge stated. The court detailed the potential penalties for the crimes, including the death penalty for murder by strangulation, 25 years to life imprisonment for assault, and a 10-year sentence for rape. The judge confirmed that the final sentence would be announced on Monday, after reviewing all aspects of the case.

The victim’s family, who attended the court session, expressed their grief and frustration over the crime. The father of the deceased doctor, visibly emotional, stated, “I hope all the culprits will be punished.” His words highlighted the family’s ongoing quest for justice, while the courtroom filled with witnesses, lawyers, and police officers. Tight security measures were enforced inside and outside the court to maintain order during the high-profile hearing.

The crime, which took place at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, shocked the public due to its brutal nature. Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer, was arrested for his involvement in the assault and murder of the young doctor. The investigation into the case has faced considerable scrutiny, particularly regarding the destruction of key evidence. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has noted that crucial evidence was destroyed during the investigation, which has complicated the legal proceedings and raised concerns over the integrity of the case.

In addition to the court’s proceedings, protests have been organized outside the court by medical professionals and the general public, calling for justice.
