CM Mamata pushes Aparajita Bill as TMC MPs urge President’s approval
Desun Hospital in Kolkata has introduced India’s first helicopter service for the transport of critically ill patients, launched on January 17, 2025. This service aims to significantly reduce transportation time for patients needing urgent medical attention. The helicopters will be equipped with medical facilities to cater to patients requiring intensive care during transit, including those with heart attacks, strokes, or trauma injuries. The service is designed to bypass traffic congestion, allowing for quicker access to life-saving treatments at the hospital.
The helicopter service will operate from designated helipads across Kolkata and its surrounding areas, providing airlift options for patients in both urban and remote locations. The hospital has set up a dedicated infrastructure to receive patients via air, ensuring immediate medical attention upon arrival. This initiative addresses the challenges of ground transportation in time-sensitive medical situations, particularly in areas where road access is restricted or heavily congested. The airlift service aims to enhance patient outcomes by reducing the time taken for critical care, providing a more effective response during emergencies.
