Three people have been arrested for allegedly stealing goats using an ambulance in the Dadpur area ahead of Bakrid, triggering concern among local residents amid rising livestock prices before the festival. According to police, the incident took place late at night in Sarkhola village, where two goats were allegedly stolen from a household cowshed. A special team led by Dadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Santosh Talukdar intercepted the ambulance after noticing suspicious movement in the area and apprehended the accused while they were allegedly attempting to flee with the animals. The arrested individuals have been identified as ambulance driver Ahmed Ali Sarkar, Dipankar Rai, and Rajat Akhya.
The ambulance involved in the incident had reportedly been donated to the Dadpur Gram Panchayat by MLA Asima Patra from her area development fund for patient care services. Police stated that the vehicle was allegedly being misused for the theft operation. Local residents alleged that several incidents of goat theft had occurred in the area in recent weeks, creating anxiety among villagers ahead of Bakrid as goat prices continue to rise. Police have started an investigation into the incident and are examining the circumstances under which the ambulance was allegedly used in the theft.
