A fatal road accident occurred in East Bardhaman's Purbasthali, resulting in the deaths of three men—Sujoy Kedarbangshi (19), Dibakar Majumdar (30), and Mukesh Kedarbangshi (30). The incident took place near the Patuli Shibtala area when the motorcycle they were riding lost control and hit a roadside pole. All three victims were residents of Pila Santoshpur and worked in other states.
According to local sources, Sujoy and Dibakar had gone to Patuli market earlier in the day. While returning, they met Mukesh on the road, and all three began travelling together on the same motorcycle. The accident occurred during the return journey. Locals reportedly reached the spot after hearing the crash and informed the police. The exact cause of the crash and the identity of the rider at the time of the incident remain unconfirmed.
Police from Purbasthali station arrived at the scene and transported the critically injured men to East Bardhaman Block Primary Health Centre. Doctors at the facility declared them dead on arrival. The bodies have been sent to Kalna Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
Sujoy’s mother, Ruby Kedarbangshi, stated, “My son bought the motorcycle just four months ago. I even spoke to him at the market that day. I received news of the accident later. He used to work at a pandal in Maharashtra.” Dibakar and Mukesh reportedly had children. Their deaths have led to mourning in their local community.
