Three brothers from Rafaitpur village, Om Prakash Singh (40), Tejpal (25), and Jai Singh (21), drowned in the Yellow River while returning from working in the fields on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 10 am when the river's water level suddenly rose. Jai Singh began to drown, and Om Prakash and Tejpal, in their attempt to save him, also drowned. Despite efforts from Jaipal and Birendra Singh to alert the villagers and seek help, the bodies of the three brothers were found eight hours later, still clinging to each other.
Local authorities and divers, including teams from the fire brigade and flood unit, conducted an extensive search for the brothers. Om Prakash, the eldest of five brothers and the only one who could swim, was married with three children. The other two brothers were unmarried. The drowning has not only left the family in grief but also facing a financial crisis, as all three brothers were laborers who supported their families. The villagers have appealed to the Chief Minister for financial assistance for the bereaved family.
