Three people were killed, and one remains in critical condition after two separate road accidents in Bihar on Saturday night. Both accidents occurred under dense fog conditions, which severely reduced visibility and contributed to the crashes.
The first accident occurred in the Bakhri Bazaar area on NH 27 in the Pipra police station jurisdiction. Three people, identified as 45-year-old Nand Kishore Prasad Kushwaha, 32-year-old Jitendra Kumar, both from Mahual village in Muzaffarpur, and Jitendra Kumar’s six-year-old son, Abhijeet Kumar, were traveling on a motorcycle to attend a wedding. As they were navigating through dense fog, an unidentified vehicle struck them and immediately fled the scene. Local residents quickly helped transport the victims to Chakia Referral Hospital, where doctors declared Nand Kishore and Jitendra dead. Abhijeet, who sustained serious injuries, was referred to a hospital in Muzaffarpur for further treatment. His condition remains critical as medical staff continue to monitor him.
The second incident occurred near Madhubani Ghat Chowk in the Mufassil police station area. A 24-year-old man, Roop Narayan Kumar, was riding his motorcycle when he was hit by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene, and Roop Narayan was rushed to a private nursing home in Motihari with severe injuries. Despite efforts to treat him, he succumbed to his injuries during the early hours of Sunday. Roop Narayan Kumar was a resident of Madhubani Ghat, and his family has been left devastated by his untimely death.
Authorities have initiated investigations into both accidents. The local police are working to identify the vehicles involved in the hit-and-run incidents. They have also been reviewing nearby CCTV footage and collecting testimonies from witnesses to track down the offenders. In response to the accidents, police have issued safety advisories, urging drivers to reduce speed and increase caution when traveling in foggy weather conditions. The families of the deceased are mourning the tragic losses, and community members have expressed concern about the rising number of accidents during poor visibility.
