Three youths were killed when the bike they were riding rammed into a stationary container at Baliguma on NH-33 under MGM thana area late on Thursday night. A fourth rider was seriously injured and is now fighting for his life at MGM Medical College Hospital.
Those killed were identified as Manjit Singh, Anish Yadav and Ankit Goswami, all residents of Manga. The surviving victim, who suffered a severe head injury and fractured his left leg, is being treated at the Medical College Hospital.
According to police, four youths from Bhilaipahadi were coming on a bike around 10 pm when the bike hit a standing container from behind at Baliguma, leaving all four lying in a pool of blood on the NH. Some local residents rescued them and took them to the university medical hospital, where the emergency doctor pronounced three of the victims dead on arrival.
According to the police, none of the four were wearing helmets and were probably riding their bikes at breakneck speed. Manjit Singh was riding a motorcycle with three other seated passengers. Police said they are investigating whether the victims of the accident were drunk or not.
