Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A chilling murder shook Pirdanga area in Howrah’s Domjur today morning when a three-month-old baby was found floating dead in a nearby pond – allegedly killed by his own grandmother. Howrah Police have arrested grandmother Sarithi Bandyopadhyay after she reportedly confessed to throwing the baby into the water. The heartbroken parents, Moyna and Abhijit Bandyopadhyay, are in deep shock and grief as neighbours rage over this cruel act.The baby’s father works at night shifts, so the mother usually keeps either her own mother or mother-in-law at home for help and safety.
Yesterday, Moyna had brought her mother-in-law Sarithi to stay overnight. Today morning, after Moyna stepped out for a few minutes, she returned to find the bed empty and her baby missing. A frantic search ended when locals spotted the tiny body in the village pond about one and a half hours later. Domjur police station officers rushed the child to Domjur Rural Hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead. Suspicion was raised towards the child's grandmother.
Under pressure from the child's mother and neighbours, grandmother Sarithi Banerjee admitted that she had thrown her grandson into the water, claims locals. Howrah Police have taken Sarithi into custody and started a detailed investigation to find out the exact reason behind the horrifying crime. The entire neighbourhood is stunned that a grandmother could harm her own grandson, and the young couple is inconsolable after losing her only child in such a brutal way.
