Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
A fatal road accident claimed the life of a trailer driver early Sunday morning in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district. Three trailers collided head-on near Kotgarh village under the Akaltara police station area around 5 am, leading to severe damage and chaos on the Akaltara-Baloda main road.
According to police, the collision involved all three heavy vehicles simultaneously, following which one of the trailers caught fire. One driver died on the spot due to the impact, while another sustained serious injuries and was trapped amid the flames and wreckage. Local residents acted swiftly and managed to rescue the injured driver before the fire spread further. On receiving information, Akaltara police and the fire brigade rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control after considerable effort. The injured driver was shifted to a hospital for treatment, while the body of the deceased was taken into police custody and sent for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigation indicates that speeding and a head-on collision were the primary causes of the accident. Traffic on the Akaltara-Baloda road was partially disrupted for some time but was later restored after police intervention. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing to examine all aspects of the incident.
