The National Child Protection Commission has taken action in the brutal murder of a girl child in Tiljala, Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal.
A notice has been given to the DG and Chief Secretary of the State Police regarding this incident. Her neighbor has been accused of killing an 8-year-old girl. Due to this incident, there was a ruckus on the streets of Kolkata since Monday morning.
There were incidents of vandalism, demonstrations, rail jams and arson in police vehicles. Taking action in this case, the police has arrested 20 people. “National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights has taken cognizance in the matter of the death of a 7-year-old girl in Tiljala. Notice to be issued to the DGP and Chief Secretary of Bengal,” the official said.
The girl went missing on Sunday morning, and her body was discovered in a suitcase at a neighbor's flat on Sunday night, according to the authorities. The culprit, a Bihari native, has been detained by police, who are investigating the murder's motivation. Alok Kumar has been named as the accused.
Subhankar Bhattacharya, DC, South East Division told, "We received a report of a missing 7-year-old girl near PS Tiljala on Sunday. The girl's body was discovered during the search inside a gunny bag in a residence in a flat building. Alok Kumar, the accused, was taken into custody right away. He is currently being held in police custody."
According to the authorities, the post-mortem on the body will determine whether or not the youngster was abused. Officers initially believed that her head was the main area of injury and that her hands were tied.
The guy allegedly killed the girl on the recommendation of a Tantrik and had no children from his marriage. The incident incensed the villagers, who became furious and began calling for the accused to be punished. The girl was allegedly kidnapped, murdered, and then put inside a suitcase, according to the locals.
"Later, some individuals began throwing stones; 2 persons were arrested in connection with this, while a few more were detained for inciting trouble. Although the situation is under control and section 144 is not in effect in the area, the situation is tranquil," Bhattacharya continued.
