A joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) West Bengal and Narayanpur Police seized ₹5 crore in cash during a raid on Sunday. The operation was conducted near Baromatha More in the Narayanpur Police Station area after officials received a specific tip-off about suspicious movement of currency.
Two men, Akram Khan (35) and Imran Khan (31), both residents of Birbhum, were arrested from a white Mahindra Scorpio. Investigators said the vehicle was intercepted while it was travelling from Birbhum, and a search revealed several zippered bags filled with currency notes amounting to ₹5 crore.
Police officials stated that the accused failed to give any valid explanation or produce documents for the money. The Scorpio has been seized, and a case has been registered at Narayanpur Police Station.
The STF has started a detailed investigation to trace the source of the cash and determine whether the money is linked to a larger network. Further questioning of the arrested pair is underway.
