Titagarh Rail Systems Limited has leased approximately 40 acres of land from the West Bengal government for 99 years at a cost of ₹126.63 crore. The land is located in the Kotrung and Bhadrakali mouzas. The lease agreement was signed between the company and state authorities on July 12. This acquisition adds to Titagarh's existing 34-acre manufacturing facility in Uttarpara, providing new space for industrial expansion.
The company plans to utilise the newly leased land to increase the production of Vande Bharat trainsets and metro coaches. According to the company's statement, the expanded facility will allow for enhanced manufacturing capacity to meet future production targets. The additional land is expected to support infrastructure needed for scaling up coach production in alignment with demand from Indian Railways and urban transit systems.
Titagarh aims to increase its annual production capacity from 300 to 850 trainsets by the financial year 2028. The leased land will be used to build new manufacturing units dedicated to this expansion. The development is part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its rolling stock manufacturing base within West Bengal.
