TMC backs AAP against centre's ordinance, Mamata Banerjee announces after meeting Arvind Kejriwal

In a significant development, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has pledged her party's support to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in their fight against the Centre's ordinance on control of services in Delhi.

The announcement came after a meeting between Mamata Banerjee and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon.

Arvind Kejriwal, accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has been on a nationwide tour to rally support against the Central ordinance, which establishes a National Capital Civil Service Authority. This authority effectively overturns a recent Supreme Court order that granted control of services, excluding police, public order, and land-related matters, to the elected government in Delhi.

Under the newly proposed National Capital Civil Service Authority, the chief minister of Delhi would be the sole representative of the elected government and would oversee the transfer of IAS and DANICS cadre officers, as well as handle matters related to disciplinary proceedings against them.

The AAP has been actively seeking the support of all non-BJP parties on this issue, emphasizing that this is a crucial moment for opposition parties to unite and protect the country's democracy and Constitution.

Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) has now joined forces with the AAP, extending their support against the Centre's ordinance. This alliance signals a growing unity among opposition parties against what they perceive as an infringement on the autonomy of state governments and a threat to federalism.
