TMC buys 3.2 lakh eggs and 160 quintal rice to feed over 75,000 party workers gathered for rally

On July 21, an estimated 75,000 Trinamool Congress workers gathered in Kolkata for a rally on Martyr's Day. The party made extensive arrangements to cater to the needs of the attendees, buying up to 3.2 lakh eggs to prepare meals for them. Many workers were accommodated in camps and hangars set up at various locations in the city, with the largest camp housing around 40,000 party workers in Salt Lake.

Trinamool Congress also booked hotels, guesthouses, and dormitories around Howrah and Sealdah stations to accommodate the workers who traveled to Kolkata to listen to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's address before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The party expected lakhs of people to participate in the rally, making it the biggest congregation of its kind.

During the rally, the attendees were served a variety of meals, including luchi-alurdam and ghugni for breakfast, and rice, dal, mixed vegetable/soybean curry, and egg curry for lunch and dinner, with unlimited eggs available. The massive demand for eggs from the party workers resulted in a shortage in the city markets.

The party General Secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, personally visited the camps to inspect living conditions and preparations, ensuring that the arrangements were adequate for the large gathering. Medical vans and mobile toilets were also stationed at the venue for any emergencies.

The Martyr's Day rally held significant political importance, as it provided an opportunity for Trinamool Congress to rally its supporters and showcase its strength ahead of the upcoming elections.
