The ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal has lodged a formal complaint with the State Election Commission against Governor Dr CV Anand Bose.
The party expressed its displeasure with the Governor's visit to violence-hit areas during the ongoing panchayat election campaign, alleging a violation of the election model code of conduct.
The state president of the Trinamool Congress, Subrata Bakshi, questioned the governor's neutrality in a written letter submitted to the Election Commission. The party claimed that the governor was interfering in the election process by meeting workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other opposition parties while staying in government guest houses.
According to the Trinamool Congress, such actions clearly violated the model code of conduct. Additionally, the governor's establishment of a control room in Raj Bhavan was deemed a complete breach of the model code of conduct.
Moreover, the governor, after meeting Trinamool Congress workers affected by the violence in Basanti and Canning, criticized the Election Commission and the police administration for their alleged failure to adhere to rules and comply with court orders.
The governor expressed his dissatisfaction by granting a 48-hour ultimatum to the Election Commission, warning that if necessary action was not taken within the given timeframe, further steps would be initiated.
