With the 2026 Bengal assembly elections looming, the Trinamool Congress has begun high-octane preparations for its annual July 21 Martyrs’ Day rally—considered a crucial show of strength for the party. On Friday, a high-level strategy meeting was held at the residence of state president Subrata Bakshi to chalk out the masterplan.
Present at the meeting were several senior leaders, including Sudip Banerjee, Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas, Chandrima Bhattacharya, Shashi Panja, Anubrata Mandal, Kajal Sheikh, and Narendra Nath Chakraborty. Party insiders described the mood as focused and assertive, with clear instructions to make this year’s rally a "superhit."
The Martyrs’ Day rally—held annually to honour 13 youth Congress workers killed in police firing in 1993—is being viewed as Trinamool’s biggest litmus test before the 2026 assembly battle. The leadership stressed full-scale mobilisation, unified messaging, and avoidance of internal friction as key priorities for the event.
The meeting also reportedly addressed factional tensions within the party, with firm warnings issued to those who could derail the party’s image ahead of the high-stakes public gathering.
