Court sends Councilor Mahesh Sharma to 6-day police custody in extortion case
• INTUC organizes protest march against LPG price hike and gas shortage
• Demonstration led by union leader Swapan Samaddar with strong sloganeering
• Protesters demand immediate steps to reduce prices and ensure supply
The trade union INTUC organized a massive protest march on Monday to oppose the recent hike in cooking gas prices and the ongoing shortage of supply. The demonstration drew a large number of participants who voiced their concerns over the rising cost of essential commodities and the difficulties faced by ordinary households.
The protest was led by union leader Swapan Samaddar, who accused the Central Government of failing to control the price of cooking gas. Demonstrators marched through the area raising slogans and demanding immediate steps to reduce the price and ensure regular availability of LPG cylinders.
According to the protesters, the sharp rise in cooking gas prices has placed an additional financial burden on common people, particularly middle-class and low-income families. They also alleged that the shortage of cylinders in several areas has made the situation even more difficult for consumers.
Union leaders stated that the agitation was meant to highlight public grievances and press the authorities to take urgent action. They warned that if the issues of rising LPG prices and supply shortages are not addressed, further protests could be organized in the coming days.
