Full state honors for Ratan Tata, one day mourning announced in Maharashtra
A controversy has erupted in Indian politics as BJP Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey made substantial allegations against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra. Dubey accused Moitra of accepting cash and gifts from businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for posing questions in the Parliament. The allegations have triggered a heated exchange between the two politicians.
Nishikant Dubey has not only leveled serious accusations against Moitra but has also written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, seeking an inquiry into her actions and demanding her immediate suspension from the house. Dubey cited the findings of an advocate's research, revealing that out of Mahua Moitra's recent 61 parliamentary questions, a significant number of them appear to serve the interests of Shri Darshan Hiranandani and his company.
Furthermore, these questions often seemed to revolve around the Adani Group, a major business conglomerate with which Hiranandani Group was in competition for various business opportunities. In response to the allegations, Moitra countered by welcoming an investigation into her actions, but only "right after they finish investigating Adani's offshore money trail, over-invoicing, benami accounts," illustrating the ongoing political tension around the matter.
