Trinamool Congress leader Razzak Khan was shot dead by unidentified attackers late Thursday night in the Chaltaberia area of Bhangar, located in South 24 Parganas district. The incident took place around 9:45 PM while Khan was returning home. According to local sources, multiple shots were fired at close range. Khan was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by his family members and locals, where doctors declared him dead.
Razzak Khan was known to be a close associate of Shaukat Molla, the MLA from Canning East. Following the incident, large numbers of supporters and residents gathered outside his residence and the hospital, demanding swift action. The attack has sparked unrest in the area, with locals raising slogans and calling for the arrest of those involved. No arrests had been reported at the time of filing this report.
Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. Senior police officials have reached the spot and started an investigation into the murder. The entire area has been placed under heightened surveillance, and search operations are underway to trace the assailants. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
