Trinamool leader Abul Nasar, 34, was found dead in a luxury resort in Mandarmani on Friday morning. Nasar, a resident of Amdanga, had checked into the resort on Thursday with two women and a male friend. His body was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan in his room, and police were immediately alerted.
According to police, one of the women present stated that she had gone to the bathroom during the night and returned to find Nasar’s body hanging with a towel around his neck. She informed the authorities soon after. Police have detained her and the male friend for questioning, while the other woman, who left the resort earlier citing illness, is also under scrutiny.
Nasar’s body has been sent to Contai Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Investigators are reviewing the hotel’s guest records, CCTV footage, and the statements of the resort staff to piece together the events leading to the incident. The belongings and mobile phones of the individuals involved have also been seized for examination.
Nasar’s wife is the deputy chief of the Adahata Gram Panchayat in Amdanga. The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities have stated that all angles, including personal and professional issues, are being thoroughly examined. Further details will be disclosed after the post-mortem report is received.
