A controversial video has surfaced from South 24 Parganas showing a local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader performing a dangerous stunt while heading to a political rally. Nur Ilahi Gazi, the Karmadhyaksha of Public Works at the Basanti Panchayat Samiti, was spotted sitting on the bonnet of a moving car.
He was traveling from Basanti to Baruipur via the Canning road to attend a public meeting addressed by TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Apart from this, his supporters were also seen riding on motorcycles without helmets and shouting slogans.
The visual of a public representative flouting traffic safety norms so openly has drawn sharp criticism from various quarters. As the vehicle sped along the busy highway, Gazi appeared unfazed by the risk, waving to onlookers from his precarious position.
