TMC MP Saugata Roy critical; Battling multiple ailments at Kolkata Hospital since June 22

Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy is in critical condition and undergoing treatment at a private hospital in South Kolkata. He has been admitted since June 22 and is suffering from multiple health complications, including neurological issues, a respiratory tract infection, kidney dysfunction, and high blood pressure. Doctors have confirmed that his potassium levels are abnormally high and he is being fed through a Ryles tube.

Roy fell ill ahead of his planned visit to the Jagannath temple inauguration in Digha. He was initially admitted to a hospital in Belgharia after suddenly falling sick on Akshaya Tritiya. He was later shifted to a private hospital in South Kolkata for further treatment. He has a pacemaker implanted in his heart.

A medical board has been constituted to oversee his treatment. The board includes neurologist Dr Manoj Saha, along with Dr Vaibhav, Dr Arindam Maitra, and Dr Rahul Jain. Doctors have stated that Roy is suffering from severe insomnia, which is affecting his overall condition. Feeding through a tube was started from Monday as his condition became more complex.

According to the latest medical bulletin, Roy is being treated for an infection in the respiratory tract. He also has high blood pressure, kidney-related complications, and is receiving insulin. Additionally, he is experiencing back pain and difficulty in pronouncing words. Physiotherapy has also been recommended by the medical team.

On March 10, Roy had also fallen ill during a parliamentary session. He was taken out of the Parliament building in a wheelchair and taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi. At that time, his condition was stable and he did not require hospital admission. His current condition continues to be monitored closely by the hospital.
