Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
On Friday, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs staged a protest inside the Parliament premises against the Election Commission’s special intensive revision of the voter list. The demonstration was led by Abhishek Banerjee, with MPs holding placards and raising slogans. The protesting members alleged that the voter list revision exercise was politically motivated and aimed at influencing the upcoming elections.
According to the TMC MPs, names of opposition supporters were being removed from the electoral rolls, while names of ineligible individuals were being added in certain areas. They described the process as a “vote theft conspiracy” and said it posed a threat to the fairness of elections. The MPs claimed that such irregularities had occurred in previous revisions as well, impacting the democratic process.
The opposition leaders demanded that the Election Commission ensure transparency and impartiality during the revision. They insisted that the entire process be conducted under public scrutiny to avoid any manipulation or bias. The MPs called for corrective measures and safeguards to prevent any form of electoral tampering.
