Another KMC councillor, Biswajit Mondal arrested, after woman alleges molestation and threats
A peaceful day at Kalikapur 1 Gram Panchayat office in Sonarpur turned violent when two Trinamool Congress panchayat members allegedly led a gang of atleast 50 people and attacked the Pradhan and Up-Pradhan. Pradhan Debashree Naskar and Up-Pradhan Madhab Mondal were sitting at their desks doing routine work when Sainaj Begum and Rabin Mondal barged in with their supporters. Eyewitnesses say the group hurled abuses, issued death threats, and even tried to physically assault the Pradhan and Up-Pradhan.
The shocking scene was captured on mobile phones and quickly went viral on social media, leaving people stunned that elected leaders could face such humiliation inside their own office. Debashree Naskar bravely spoke out, saying Rabin Mondal’s daughter also joined in and used filthy language against her. She claims the attack was planned because she and the Up-Pradhan refused to bow to pressure on certain work decisions.
Local residents are furious, calling it a complete breakdown of law and order inside a government office meant to serve the people. Sonarpur Police have been informed and a complaint has been filed, but tension remains high in the area. Many fear this is just the latest example of internal TMC fights turning deadly at the grassroots level. People now want strict action against the attackers so panchayat officials can work without fear and villagers can feel safe visiting their own office.
