On April 9, the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) will organize a massive rally from College Square to Dharmatala in protest against the dismissal of 26,000 teachers and non-teaching staff following a Supreme Court ruling. Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Kunal Ghosh made the announcement, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the issue that has left many educators and their families in distress. The rally is aimed at highlighting the grievances of these dismissed employees and urging for a resolution.
Ghosh also expressed concerns about potential disruptions during the event at Netaji Indoor Stadium on Monday, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to meet the dismissed teachers. He warned that a section of the opposition parties might attempt to create chaos, similar to previous incidents such as the disruption during Banerjee’s Oxford speech. Ghosh called for attention to what the Chief Minister intends to convey and emphasized the importance of the gathering for the affected teachers.
The event at Netaji Indoor Stadium is convened at the request of the ‘Deprived Teachers’ Association’ and will focus on finding a way forward for the more than 25,000 teachers and non-teaching staff who were dismissed. Ghosh criticized opposition parties like the BJP and CPI(M) for spreading misinformation, asserting that it is the Bengal Chief Minister who will actively support the dismissed teachers and work towards resolving the crisis.
