TMC State General Secretary Kunal Ghosh held a meeting with Rabindra Ghosh, the lawyer representing Chinmoykrishna Das, at Barasat on Tuesday. This marks the first meeting between a senior TMC leader and the prominent lawyer. Due to knee pain, Kunal Ghosh was unable to visit Rabindra Ghosh's office and instead traveled to his son’s residence in Barasat for the discussion.
The meeting is understood to have focused on the recent developments surrounding Chinmoykrishna Das’s arrest and the ongoing situation in Bangladesh, where there have been reports of attacks on the minority community. Rabindra Ghosh has been actively involved in handling legal matters related to Das’s case. The arrest of Chinmoykrishna Das, linked to his alleged involvement in certain activities, has garnered significant attention. Legal proceedings are currently ongoing, and the case is seen as a key issue in the political landscape.
The Bangladesh issue, particularly the reported persecution of its minority communities, has gained prominence in West Bengal's political discourse. The BJP has raised the matter, accusing the ruling TMC of not taking a strong enough stance. This issue is expected to play a central role in the 2026 Assembly elections. The meeting between Kunal Ghosh and Rabindra Ghosh reflects the significance of the ongoing political and legal debates surrounding these matters, especially in light of the upcoming elections.
