TMC the biggest spender at 181 crores in regional parties, reveals ADR

In the latest report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), K Chandrashekhar Rao's Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has emerged at the forefront among regional parties in terms of income for the year 2022-23, declaring a substantial Rs 737.6 crore. This amount represents 42.3% of the total income of regional parties analyzed by the ADR.

Following closely behind is the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which reported an income of Rs 333.45 crore, constituting 19.1% of the total income among the 39 regional parties covered in the analysis. The DMK secured the third position with an income of Rs 214.3 crore, making up 12.3% of the total.

In terms of expenditure, the TMC leads the pack, having spent Rs 181.1 crore, which accounts for 37.6% of the total expenditure reported by regional parties. YS Jaganmohan Reddy's YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) follows with an expenditure of Rs 79.3 crore (16.49%), while BRS spent Rs 57.4 crore (11.9%), positioning it among the top spenders.

Overall, the top five parties, which include BRS, TMC, YSRCP, DMK, and Samajwadi Party, collectively accounted for Rs 1,541.3 crore or 88.5% of the total income of the 39 regional parties analyzed.
