Traders from the Mangala Haat wholesale market gathered in protest outside the Howrah police station on Tuesday morning, alleging threats and intimidation by members of promoter Shanti Ranjan Dey's gang. The traders claimed that Dey's associates warned them against entering Mangala Haat or conducting business, prompting frightened traders to demand police protection for their safety.
After protesting for about an hour, the traders handed over a memorandum to the police, outlining their concerns and urging authorities to ensure a secure environment for conducting business at Mangala Haat.
