Tragedy strikes UP town as railway doctor's family succumbs to apparent murder

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the town of Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh is grappling with the aftermath of a family tragedy, where Dr. Arun Kumar, a dedicated eye specialist and medical officer with Railways, allegedly murdered his wife and two children before taking his own life.

The shocking incident unfolded in the Railways quarters, leaving the community in disbelief. Dr. Kumar, who had been battling depression, was found lifeless alongside his wife, Archana, daughter Adiva (12), and son Aarav (4), prompting a comprehensive police investigation.

Upon entering the Kumar residence, authorities discovered a crime scene marked by a hammer, blood stains, and drug injections, indicating a meticulously planned act. Preliminary findings suggest that Dr. Kumar administered drugs to incapacitate his family before inflicting fatal blows.

Despite an unsuccessful attempt to end his own life by slitting his wrists, the doctor ultimately succumbed to hanging. Rae Bareli SP Alok Priyadarshi emphasized the need for a thorough post-mortem examination to glean further insights.
