In a tragic incident near Newtown's Ecopark gate, a scooter driver lost his life after being struck by a private vehicle at high speed from behind.
The victim, identified as Bappa Ghosh (48), was commuting along Newtown Biswa Bangla Sarani towards Akanksha intersection via Ecopark Gate No. 1 when the fatal collision occurred. Ghosh, who was identified as the driver of a Central Investigation Agency vehicle, was unable to withstand the impact and suffered fatal injuries as his head collided with the divider.
Despite being rushed to Bidhannagar Sub-District Hospital in a bleeding condition, doctors pronounced him brought dead. The fatal car involved in the accident has been seized by the Newtown Traffic Police for further investigation, while both Newtown traffic police and Ecopark police reached the spot to manage the situation.
