A devastating house fire in Voorheesville, located in Albany County, upstate New York, has claimed the lives of four individuals, including a 5-year-old girl named Emily Thorne.
The incident unfolded when a woman, trapped inside a room with Emily, made a frantic 911 call, desperately seeking help. Despite the prompt arrival of fire crews, they discovered that all four victims, including little Emily, had already succumbed to the fire.
Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple revealed that the woman who called 911 expressed her distress at being trapped in the room with the young child. Unfortunately, the window in the room was blocked by an air conditioning unit, leaving them with no means of escape. Sheriff Apple stated, "The dispatcher tried everything she could do to assist her and to help her egress.
She couldn't get out of the room due to an air conditioner on the window. It's a horrible scene. I feel horribly for the family, the neighbors." Investigators are currently working to determine the exact cause of the fire. Although they believe they have identified the origin, it has yet to be officially confirmed.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for the victims, revealing the identities of the other three individuals who lost their lives in the tragic incident. They include Emily's father, AJ, his girlfriend, and his uncle. Emily's brother, Anthony, fortunately managed to escape the blaze.
Michelle Thorne, Emily's mother, took to Facebook to share a heart-wrenching post, expressing her grief and reminiscing about her beloved daughter. She wrote, "No words can describe the pain of losing a daughter/sister, a kid's father/his father, and loving uncle. It is with great sadness that we have lost the most amazing people in this world."
Michelle also paid tribute to her daughter, stating, "you always were my sweet and sassy little girl." She fondly remembered the interests of the other victims, including wrestling and music preferences.
