In a devastating road accident that occurred early this morning, at least six people lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries in the Baramulla area under the jurisdiction of Kharagpur police station in West Medinipur district, West Bengal. The accident took place as flower bags were being loaded into a pickup van when a truck, loaded with cement bags, collided with it from behind. The impact caused the pickup van to plunge into the nearby reservoir, resulting in a catastrophic incident.
The accident transpired around 3 am, approximately one kilometer away from the Debra Toll Plaza. At the time of the accident, there were around 20-22 flower vendors on board, who were preparing to transport their goods to Kolaghat. As a result of the collision, six individuals tragically lost their lives, and many others were injured.
The injured have been promptly admitted to Kharagpur Divisional Hospital and Medinipur Medical College Hospital, with the condition of four of them reported as critical. One seriously injured individual has been transferred to Kolkata for specialized medical care. It is worth noting that the deceased victims, who are residents of Maqsoodpur, remain unidentified.
