A woman died after being hit by a train in Dankuni in Hooghly district on Thursday morning. According to railway police sources, Dolly Ghosh, a resident of ward number six of Dankuni Municipality, had gone to the market in the morning. She was hit by a train while crossing the railway line in the area adjacent to Dankuni Railway Gate No. 10.
Railway police took the body parts into their custody and sent them for post-mortem. Eyewitnesses claim that after the woman was hit by the train, her son Sukhen Ghosh went to the spot. He tried to collect the pieces of his mother's body and take them home.
Residents informed the railway police and Dankuni police station. Dankuni police and residents claim that Sukhen Ghosh is mentally unstable. This was evident from the way he was speaking. He has been taken to the police station.
